PM Narendra Modi Arrives In Netherlands For High-Level Discussions On Trade, Energy And Innovation

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Netherlands on Friday in the second phase of his five-nation tour. This visit is not just a formal visit but an attempt to take the relations between India and the Netherlands to a new level. There will be a meeting with Dutch PM Rob Jetten and there will be frank talks on big issues like trade, technology, defense and clean energy.

How was PM Modi welcomed upon reaching Netherlands?

When Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Amsterdam after his Abu Dhabi tour, he was warmly welcomed there. Many senior officials of Netherlands including Indian Ambassador Kumar Tuhin were present at the airport to receive him. While sharing the post on social media, PM Modi said that the friendship between India and Netherlands is continuously strengthening and this visit will give new strength to the relations between the two countries.

Semiconductors, defence, technology, water management, renewable energy and trade – all these issues will be on the table during this visit. The special thing is that recently the negotiations for a free trade agreement between India and the European Union have progressed, after which there is full hope that the economic relations between the two countries will become stronger.

This will be a special moment of this tour. PM Modi will meet King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands. Apart from this, the Indian community settled there is also likely to participate in a program. This will strengthen not only political but also cultural relations between the two countries.

Netherlands is a major trading partner of India in Europe. In the year 2024-25, there was a trade of about 27.8 dollars billion between the two countries. Not only this, but the Netherlands is also the fourth largest foreign investor in India and till now investment of more than 55 billion dollars has come into India from there. This means that the relationship is not only political but also a business relationship that is very deep.

About 90 thousand Indians and people of Indian origin live in the Netherlands. Apart from this, a large number of the Surinamese-Hindustani community are also settled there.
