Russia alleged that Ukraine attempted to attack the state residence of President Vladimir Putin. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the incident took place in the Novgorod region. He stated that Ukraine tried to strike the residence using long range drones. According to Lavrov, the attempt occurred during the night of December 28 and 29. Russia described the act as a serious escalation. The allegation was made during an official statement. Moscow said the matter is being treated with utmost seriousness.
Lavrov claimed that Ukraine launched ninety one long range drones toward the presidential residence. He said all the drones were intercepted and destroyed by Russian air defence systems.
