International News: Russia has claimed that foreign troops are also fighting on Ukraine's side. The Kremlin said on Tuesday that the Russian military is constantly hearing the sounds of foreign troops fighting on Ukrainian fronts and warned that such foreign fighters will be killed. Russia has long claimed that NATO troops and European intelligence agencies are present in Ukraine. Russian spies have heard English and French languages on the fighting fronts.
However, NATO and the United States maintain that their troops are not in Ukraine. According to US media reports, US and European intelligence agencies are present in Ukraine, but are not directly involved in the conflict. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the Russian military is listening to foreign languages. "We are also taking action against foreign troops," he said.
Ukrainian President Zelenskyy said his country is ready for peace talks, but will not back down to Russia's demands to cede territory. He said talks could take place anywhere, just not in Russia or Belarus. Trump and Putin were supposed to hold talks in Budapest, the Hungarian capital, but they were not held due to Russian conditions.
Zelenskyy said Ukraine would not withdraw from any of its territories or cede any part of them. Zelenskyy urged US lawmakers to impose even tougher economic sanctions on Russia. Zelenskyy said that recent sanctions imposed on two major Russian oil companies are not enough. Zelenskyy also said that Ukraine will need financial assistance from European allies for the next two to three years to stabilize the country through both the war and reconstruction.
