'Russia Enduring Difficult Phase, But...': Putin's Major Admission Amidst Ukraine War

Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin stated on Sunday that the country is currently navigating a challenging and difficult period; however, he expressed full confidence that the nation would overcome these obstacles, strengthen its national security, and ensure the protection of its borders.

What did Vladimir Putin say? 

Addressing a key conference of the ruling United Russia party—ahead of the parliamentary elections scheduled for September—President Putin conveyed to party workers and leaders that recent hardships have not weakened Russia but have instead made it stronger and more experienced.
According to the news agency TASS, Putin remarked, "We are going through a difficult time, but it has taught us a great deal. These hardships have made the country stronger and provided valuable lessons."

While wishing the United Russia party a resounding victory in the upcoming elections, he urged party leaders to engage with the public and build confidence around issues of development, security, and stability.

Why is Vladimir Putin's statement crucial? 

Putin’s statement comes at a sensitive time as Russia faces ongoing challenges stemming from the conflict with Ukraine. Drone and missile attacks by the Ukrainian military on Russian territories have intensified, causing damage to civilian areas and infrastructure. Furthermore, sweeping economic sanctions imposed on Russia by Western nations have placed strain on the country's economy.
At the conference, Putin emphasized that the government is fully aware of these issues and is taking concrete steps to resolve them. He stated, "Yes, we see the problems; we are aware of them and are addressing them. But we will certainly ensure the security of both the country and its citizens, as well as the integrity of Russia's borders."

The President further assured that the nation would undoubtedly overcome all the challenges currently facing it, including terrorist attacks targeting its territories and infrastructure. He told party workers that Russia's security agencies and armed forces are fully prepared to counter these threats and that the country's sovereignty will never bow to anyone.
During his speech, Putin also emphasized issues such as economic stability, social security, and the enhancement of defense capabilities. He stated that Russia is advancing on the path of development despite global pressures, while pursuing its independent policies.
