Baluchistan terrorist attack
Pakistan: A suicide attack in the Balochistan province of south-western Pakistan this morning shook the entire country. Four innocent children lost their lives in this barbaric attack targeting a school bus, while 38 others were seriously injured. This attack not only raises questions on the security system of Pakistan, but also exposes the cracks in the society where education and childhood are not safe.
Like every morning, the children left for school happily. Some had notebooks and books in their bags, while some had tiffin in their hands. But who knew that this morning would become the last morning of the lives of some families. The bus had just reached the middle of Mastung when a high-speed car collided with it,and with it a massive explosion. Screams, blood, and broken dreams were visible everywhere.
According to eyewitnesses, the blast was so powerful that the shutters of nearby shops and windows of houses shook. Children were lying injured here and there. Many young children were seen writhing in pain with books falling out of their bags. Locals rushed to rescue them, but it was too late for many.

Although no organization has claimed responsibility for the attack so far, security agencies suspect Baloch separatists or the Pakistani Taliban (TTP). Balochistan has been a hotbed of violence, militancy and instability for years. Now that even schools are being attacked, this violence seems to be moving in a new and much more dangerous direction.
The four children who died were between 8 and 12 years old. Some had just begun to understand life. Their parents kept banging on the walls of the hospital, hoping for a miracle. But no miracle happened. The doctors simply said ‘sorry’ and closed the file.
This attack is not just a ‘statistic’ for Pakistan. It is testimony to a shattered hope where even children are no longer safe. The government has ordered an inquiry, but the public is asking, does an inquiry heal wounds?
