International News: US President Donald Trump has taken a step in the field of defense policy, which can change the global power equation in the coming years. Trump announced on Tuesday that the US will now develop a space-based missile defense system, which will be named 'Golden Dome'. This system will be more powerful and modern than Israel's Iron Dome.
The estimated cost of this project is said to be $175 billion and an initial budget proposal of $25 billion has been sent to Congress for this.
The Golden Dome will be completely based on satellites and AI technology. This system will be able to identify any threat coming to the earth from space in advance and destroy it with hyperspeed laser and interceptor. Trump claimed that this defense shield will not only protect the borders of America, but will also defeat the enemy's technology.
He said, "We are creating a shield that will not only thwart missiles, but also every potential threat of the future."
In his announcement, Trump also remembered former US President Ronald Reagan. Reagan had dreamed of a missile defense program called 'Star Wars' in the 1980s, which could not be completed due to technical limitations. Trump said, "What he could not do, we are now making it possible with the help of modern technology."
Donald Trump promised that if he becomes president again, he will fully activate this system by 2028. The US Defense Department has already started working on this project and NASA and private space companies will also play a major role in it. Canada and some NATO member countries have also expressed their desire for technical cooperation in this plan.
While on the one hand Trump is calling this system a new pillar of America's security, on the other hand critics believe that this will promote military competition in space. With China and Russia already expanding their capabilities in space, this US initiative could create new strategic pressure.
The Golden Dome is not just a defence system but a reflection of America's space defence dream. Trump's move could establish him as a leader who has made the country technically and strategically prepared for future battles.
