President Donald Trump paid tribute to the killed soldiers, saying that they have made the supreme sacrifice for the security of the country. He reiterated that America will not allow Iran to acquire nuclear weapons under any circumstances and will take all possible military steps if necessary.
Immediately after the attack, the US military started an air campaign against Iran. According to US officials, the operation is aimed at ensuring the security of international maritime trade in the Strait of Hormuz and targeting military targets believed to be responsible for the Jordanian attack.
The US defence department is busy preparing for a massive military operation. Defense experts believe that the attack in Jordan could further widen the conflict between the two countries. If the series of retaliatory actions continues, the security situation in the entire West Asia may become more serious.
Amidst the increasing tension, the US State Department has issued a global travel advisory asking its citizens to be extra cautious. The ministry has expressed apprehension that pro-Iran groups may target US embassies, installations or citizens in different parts of the world. For this reason, American citizens traveling abroad and living abroad have been advised to follow safety instructions.
