UAE prepares to help US, allies open Strait of Hormuz by force; willing to join fight: Report (X)

New Delhi: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has informed  the United States and other Western allies that it is ready to help open the Strait of Hormuz by force, according to the Arab officials. After being hit by Iranian attacks, the move will make it the first Persian Gulf country to become a combatant.

What did UAE say?

The UAE is preparing to help the ‌US ‌and ‌other allies to open the key Strait of Hormuz ‌waterway by force, according to media reports on Tuesday, citing Arab ‌officials.

According to officials, the Gulf Nation is lobbying for a United Nations Security Council resolution that would authorise such action.

Emirati diplomats have urged the US and military powers in Europe and Asia to form a coalition to open the strait by force, said a UAE official, adding that the Iranian regime thinks it is fighting for its existence and is willing to bring the global economy down with it in a chokehold on the strait.

What is 'Hormuz Security Force'?

The UAE, additionally is also trying to push dozens of countries to create a 'Hormuz Security Force' to defend the strait from Iranian attacks and escort shipping, according to reports.

The UAE in the one month conflict has faced more Iranian attacks than any other country in the region, including Israel.

What did Trump say about Strait of Hormuz?

The development comes after US President Donald Trump said that the Strait of Hormuz will open.

Trump said, "Well, I think it'll automatically open, but my attitude is, I've obliterated the country. They have no strength left, and let the countries that are using the strait, let them go and open it... because I would imagine whoever's controlling the oil will be very happy to open the strait."

Trump recently shared a post on Truth Social and directly targeted the United Kingdom and other countries who are facing fuel shortages.

"All of those countries that can't get jet fuel because of the Strait of Hormuz, like the United Kingdom, which refused to get involved in the decapitation of Iran, I have a suggestion for you: Number 1, buy from the U.S., we have plenty, and Number 2, build up some delayed courage, go to the Strait, and just TAKE IT. You'll have to start learning how to fight for yourself, the USA won't be there to help you anymore, just like you weren't there for us. Iran has been, essentially, decimated. The hard part is done. Go get your own oil!" he wrote.
