In a major breakthrough, the United States has pledged to provide military hardware and logistics support worth $131 million to India. The step is targeted at improving India's surveillance capability at sea and strengthening its strategic position in the Indo-Pacific. The move has come when tensions between India and Pakistan are increasing, especially after the Pahalgam terror attack.

US-India defense cooperation

The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) has authorized the sale of military equipment to India under the Foreign Military Sale program. Equipment consists of C-Vision software, remote software, and analysis support, which will enhance the surveillance capability of India in the ocean region. The US says that India will incorporate these equipment and services in its military without significant trouble.

Indo-Pacific maritime domain awareness program

The military aid package is under the Indo-US cooperation under the Indo-Pacific Maritime Domain Awareness Program. The program is designed to improve India's surveillance in the sea sector so that it can detect and address threats efficiently. This action is viewed as a major step towards improving India-US relations.

Turkey denies arms supplies to Pakistan

At the same time, Turkey denied reports of arms shipments to Pakistan. Turkish Presidential Office Communications Directorate said Turkish cargo planes flew into Pakistan for refueling only and that they did not carry any weapons. This is in response to some news reports which said Turkey delivered six planes full of military gear to Pakistan.

India-Pakistan tensions

India-Pakistan relations are tense, especially after the Pahalgam terrorist attack. The Indian Army has been on alert, and the nation wants to enhance its defense capabilities. The US arms package is a major boost to India's defense readiness.
