Washington: The statement made by US President Donald Trump as soon as the death of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was confirmed in American and Israeli attacks made headlines around the world. Trump said, "I killed him first before he could kill me." He tried twice. I killed him first." This statement has come in the background of the alleged conspiracy of Iran exposed in 2024, in which an attempt to assassinate Trump was claimed.

How did this attack happen?

This joint attack by America and Israel was named "Operation Epic Fury" by the Pentagon and "Roaring Lion" by Israel. The attack began just after sunrise in Tehran on Saturday, when massive explosions echoed across the capital. US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth called it "the deadliest, most complex and most precise air campaign" in history.

Where was Khamenei sitting in his last moments?

Iran's Fars News Agency revealed that when Khamenei was killed, he was not sitting in any hiding place but in his office in his residence complex. A senior Israeli official said they were 99 percent confident that Khamenei had been killed in the first strike. Khamenei's daughter, son-in-law and grandson are also reported to have died in these attacks.

How did the world take this decision?

Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian described Khamenei's assassination as "one of the biggest trials facing the Islamic world" and called it a declaration of war against Muslims. At the same time, thousands of Iranian-Americans celebrated on the streets of Los Angeles, demanding a democratic referendum to bring back the late Shah's son Reza Pahlavi.

Will the attacks still continue?

Trump said US military operations could continue in Iran for up to five weeks and would not stop until Washington's objectives were met. Along with this, he made a direct appeal to the Iranian people and said that the moment of freedom has come, take your government into your own hands.

Is the door for dialogue open or closed?

Trump told The Atlantic that Iran has expressed a desire for talks and he has agreed to talk. He regretted that Iran missed the first opportunity for an agreement. They should have done this earlier, they left it too late. On the other hand, Iran's top security official Ali Larijani has tried to restart talks with America through Omani mediators.

Power in Tehran is now in the hands of an interim council and the search for a new supreme leader has begun. At what point will this war in the Middle East end? This question is currently on the minds of the entire world.
