Washington: Regarding a shocking military operation in Venezuela, US President Donald Trump said that this action was not sudden. Preparations for this were going on continuously for the last four days, but due to bad weather, it had to be postponed. According to Trump, as soon as the circumstances became favorable, the operation was given the green signal.
Trump said that more than 150 military aircraft were involved in this operation. State-of-the-art fighter jets, bombers, and drones were deployed in these. He claims that this operation is an example of the capability and coordination of the US Army, which was carried out with utmost precision.
Speaking to the media, Trump indicated that American energy companies could play an important role in Venezuela's oil sector. He said that America's oil companies are considered the strongest in the world and they will be deeply involved in the energy sector there. Trump made it clear that America will not step back from active participation in this region.
Trump also said that it would be wrong to compare the situation in Venezuela with Afghanistan. In his words, “America can no longer be taken for granted.” Praising the professionalism of the army and the courage of the soldiers, he said that it was difficult to stop them from moving forward.
According to Trump, Maduro was present in a highly secured presidential palace, which he described as like a “fortress.” Maduro was about to reach a safe room when US forces took swift action and overpowered him. Heavy equipment was also kept ready to cut strong walls if needed.
General Dan Kane, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said that work on this mission had been in the works for months. Maduro's daily routine, bases, and security circles were studied closely. Practice was also done keeping in mind different circumstances so that no mistakes were made.
Trump claimed that the entire operation was conducted in the dark of night. According to him, most of the lights in Caracas city were turned off so that the operation could be kept secret.
Venezuelan Vice President Delsey Rodriguez claimed civilian and military casualties, but Trump rejected this. He said that the American side did not suffer any major losses and the injured soldiers also returned safely.
This mission was named “Operation Absolute Resolve.”
The age of the American soldiers involved in this operation is said to be between 20 and 49 years.
