Age Is Just A Number: 80-Year-Old Woman Reaches World's Highest Motorable Pass (Instagram )
New Delhi: Nowadays, many people put off several tasks due to their age. When it comes to traveling, older people often shy away from exploring new things. However, an 80-year-old woman has proven that age is no factor in fulfilling dreams. While most people avoid difficult journeys due to their advanced age, this elderly woman has inspired thousands by reaching the Umling La Pass, the world's highest motorable pass, located at an altitude of 19,024 feet.
A video shared on Instagram by thetravelist, a Chhattisgarh-based travel company, captures the journey of an 80-year-old woman to Umling La Pass.
The clip was shared with the caption, "When your spirit is young, age becomes just a number."
The post added, "At 80 years old, Dadi Ji reached Umling La Pass (19,024 ft) - the world's highest motorable pass. She didn't just reach a destination. She reminded us that dreams don't retire."
In the viral video, the 80-year-old woman can be seen posing beside the iconic "Umling La Pass" signboard despite the cold weather and falling snow.
Umling La Pass is located near the India-China border in Ladakh region. At an altitude of approximately 19,024 feet, it is considered the highest motorable pass in the world. Reaching it despite the high altitude and harsh weather is no less than a major achievement. Therefore, the 80-year-old woman's achievement is deeply motivating for the current generation.
The nearest airport to reach Umling Pass is Leh Airport (Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport). Direct flights to many cities are readily available from this airport. To reach by road, you must first reach Leh. From there, you can hire a taxi or reach by your own vehicle. During your road journey, you will experience beautiful and captivating views.
The best time to visit Umling La Pass is between May and September. During this time, the weather and days are relatively pleasant, and there is less snowfall, making travel easier. Meanwhile, October to April is a time of extreme cold and heavy snowfall. This can cause road closures and difficult travel.
