How Many Times Can We Fall 'Passionately In Love'? Here Study Reveals (X)
New Delhi: During this Valentine’s Week, a new study has found whether a person can passionately fall in love, that feels like butterflies in the stomach and like Bollywood romance, more than one time in their life span.
A new study from the Kinsey Institute has surveyed more than 10,000 adults in the United States to find out that how many times do people actually experience passionate love over a lifetime.
The study also shows that experiencing passionate love, the intense, head-over-heels kind, is not as common as movies and songs suggest.
The researchers surveyed 10,036 single adults aged 18 to 99 from across the US.
The main question that researchers asked participants was, "In your lifetime, how many times have you been passionately in love?"
According to the study, on average, adults reported experiencing passionate love about twice in their lifetime (2.05 experiences).
As per study, 14 per cent had never experienced passionate love, while 28 per cent experienced it once, 30 per cent twice, 17 per cent three times, and 11 per cent four or more times.
A lead author of the study and a scientist at the Kinsey Institute, Dr. Amanda Gesselman, said that, "People talk about falling in love all the time, but this is the first study to actually ask how many times that happens across the lifetime. For most people, passionate love turns out to be something that happens only a few times across their entire life."
Kinsey Institute research's singles in America data with dating company Match show that 60 per cent of US singles calls themselves "very romantic", and a majority endorse ideas like love at first sight and destiny.
About 51 per cent reported feeling more pressure to find love compared to previous generations, and 73 per cent blames romantic media for unrealistic standards or expectations.
Researchers found that most people go through this powerful emotion only a handful of times in their lives.
