Shock In Pune: Couple Ends Marriage Within 24 Hours Despite 2-Year Relationship

New Delhi: A wedding in Pune turned into an unexpected divorce story almost as soon as the ceremony ended. A couple, who had been in a relationship for more than two years, decided to call off their marriage within 24 hours of tying the knot, leaving friends and family stunned.

The couple, both well-educated professionals, appeared to be a perfect match. The woman is a doctor and the man an engineer. They had dated for around two years before getting married in a love marriage.

Why did they split so fast?

According to their lawyer, Advocate Rani Sonawane, serious differences emerged almost immediately after the wedding. The biggest issue was the man's job. He works on a ship and faces long and unpredictable periods away from home. He could not clearly explain when or where he would be posted.

The couple disagreed strongly on where and how they would live given this uncertainty. These disagreements were deep enough that they could not find common ground. Within a day of marriage, they decided it was better to part ways than to stay in an unhappy relationship.

Was there any conflict or violence?

Both sides say there was no violence, abuse or criminal behaviour. They chose a mutual consent divorce and followed the legal process calmly. Their lawyer called it one of the fastest divorce cases in recent local memory.

The advocate said, "the court delivered its decision after considering the Supreme Court's guidelines applicable in such cases."

Typically, divorce cases in India can take months or years, making this case unusually swift.
