'Delhi Will Become Khalistan': 10 Delhi Schools Receive Bomb Threat; Warning To Blast Parliament On Feb 13

'Delhi will become Khalistan': 10 Delhi Schools Receive Bomb Threat; Warning To Blast Parliament on Feb 13 (X)

New Delhi:  Several schools in Delhi received bomb threat emails on Monday morning, which triggered panic among students, parents, and school authorities, after which an immediate response from security agencies were rushed to the locations.

The threat email also alleged that a blast would take place in Parliament on February 13 at 1:11 pm.

Authorities responded immediately, sending police, bomb disposal teams and fire tenders to investigate the matter.

Which schools received the mail?

About 10 schools in the national capital which received threatening emails, include:

  • Loreto Convent School, Delhi Cantonment
  • Cambridge School, Srinivaspuri in South Delhi
  • Venkateshwar School, Rohini in North West Delhi
  • CM School, Rohini
  • Bal Bharati School, Rohini
  • Cambridge School, New Friends Colony in South Delhi
  • The Indian School, Sadiq Nagar in South Delhi
  • DTA School, INA 

Many other schools are also reporting of receiving similar threat mails. The schools received the call and email in the morning between 8am to 10 am.

"A total of 10 schools received bomb threats today. Fire service teams immediately reached the premises. Checking is underway," the Delhi Fire Services (DFS) official told PTI.

The threat email carried disturbing and provocative messages, claiming, "Delhi will become Khalistan. Punjab is Khalistan. In memory of Afzal Guru."

According to sources the email was received around 7:22 am, which claimed that a blast will take place at 1:11 pm on Monday.

The email also read, " Delhi Banayga KHALISTAN. Aaj Shaheed Afzal Guru's Yaad Vich. Boomb Blast 1:11 PM Hovega. School Vich Aaj Dhamaka. Hindu-Stani Parliament Vich Boomb Chlega. 13 February @1:11pm Hovega. Modi-Shah-Jaishankar. Khalistan Walian de Dushman. Punjab Hul Khalistan.

How did authorities respond?

Police teams, including bomb detection squads and firefighters, rushed to the affected schools to carry out checks. 

Is there any confirmation of a real threat?

Officials said that the warnings are being treated seriously. The schools were evacuated as a precautionary measure. Bomb detection and disposal squads, along with dog squads, are carrying out extensive searches.

Are these bomb threats common?

Last month, several schools in Delhi received a same bomb threat via email and soon after receiving information about it, police thoroughly searched the premises.
