National News: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has started a big campaign in Goa to fight fear, crime, and lawlessness in the state. The party has directly challenged the BJP government with its statewide program called “Goa Does Not Need BJP’s Goonda Raj.” AAP says this campaign is not just politics, but the voice of every Goan who wants safety, peace, and justice in their state.

Rise in Crime and Fear

Goa was once known for peace, harmony, and brotherhood. However, under BJP’s rule, the situation has changed rapidly. Crimes are rising, and ordinary people are living in fear. Official police data shows that serious crimes have increased by more than 38% in the past six years. In 2017, around 2,900 cases were registered, while in 2024, the number rose to over 4,050. Crimes against women have increased by over 40%. In just the past year, more than 120 murder or attempted murder cases, over 350 attacks on women, and more than 800 thefts and robberies have been reported. These numbers are not just statistics; they reflect the real fear and insecurity of every ordinary Goan. Attacks on social activists like Rama Konkankar and over 250 assaults on activists in the past two years show that law is no longer ruling Goa—BJP leaders and their supporters are.

Land Issues and Development Concerns

AAP claims that BJP’s politics is not just based on fear; it is also selling Goa’s land and identity. Government records show that over 3,200 acres of government and community land have been handed to private companies and builders in recent years, often without the consent of local residents. The party alleges that BJP is selling Goa under the pretext of development, and anyone opposing this loot is threatened. BJP’s failures are not limited to law and order. Basic facilities like roads and schools are in poor condition. 72% of state roads need repairs, and many areas get flooded during every rainfall. AAP has already highlighted the poor state of roads as an issue, gaining strong public support. Over 50,000 people have signed petitions against the government so far.

Public Voice and a Path to Change

AAP says that the people of Goa have decided that fear will no longer rule. This election is not just about a political party, but about the future of the state. On one side is the BJP, relying on fear, land grab, and goonda raj to remain in power. On the other side is AAP, which aims to restore peace, law, transparency, and the power of the people, bringing Goa back to the safe and proud state it once was. The people of Goa are no longer willing to stay silent. They want future generations to inherit rights and security, not fear. The message is clear: “Goonda Raj will not work; people’s rule will prevail.” AAP’s campaign has now become more than a political movement—it reflects the sentiment of every Goan and will chart a new direction for the state.
