National News: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) of India has taken a major step after the horrific accident of Air India flight AI-171 in Ahmedabad. DGCA issued an order on Friday stating that from 15 June 2025, a detailed technical check of Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft will be mandatory before every flight. This is the first time India has implemented such an intensive flight pre-inspection process on a particular aircraft model.

6 phases of investigation mandatory before every flight

The aircraft of AI's Dreamliner series will now have to undergo special technical investigation at these six points before flying:

  • Monitor fuel parameters.
  • Cabin pressure and air circulation system check
  • Electronic engine control system test
  • Engine fuel flow and oil system accuracy
  • Inspection of hydraulic system
  • Testing every technical parameter of flight

In addition to these investigations, flight control inspection will also be mandatory during every flight.

Technical report will be submitted to DGCA every 15 days

DGCA has ordered Air India to review every small and big technical aspect of these aircraft and submit a detailed report every 15 days. Also, by doing power assurance tests, it should also be ensured that the GENX engines manufactured by GE aerospace are functioning at full capacity.

US-UK Experts Join Probe into Ahmedabad Plane Crash

The country is shocked by the news of the death of 241 passengers and crew in the AI-171 flight accident. Tata Group Chairman N Chandrasekaran has said that the US and UK expert teams have reached Ahmedabad and Air India will cooperate with full transparency. He said, "We have to know the truth, and after reaching it, we will keep in front of everyone with full transparency."

FAA & Ge Aerospace will give technical cooperation

The American Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has clarified that the main inquiry will be conducted by Indian officials, but the US will continue to provide technical assistance. At the same time, Dreamliner's engine manufacturer Ge Aerospace has also assured all possible cooperation from its level.

Black Box Yields Crucial Clues in Crash Investigation

About 28 hours after the accident, the black box (flight data recorder) of the aircraft was recovered. Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu said that it would be possible to reach the real cause of the accident and it would prove to be a milestone in the investigation.

Questions raised on Boeing's claims

The AI-171 flight accident is the first major passenger aircraft accident in the Boeing Dreamliner series. Boeing claims that the Dreamliner is the world's safest aircraft, but now new questions have been raised worldwide about this technology. DGCA instructions are taking India's aviation security to a new level. The steps taken in the backdrop of the accident can prove to be a milestone in the future to stop any such tragedy.
