New Delhi: A chartered plane met with an accident during landing in Maharashtra's Baramati on Wednesday morning, killing the state's Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and four others. After the accident, smoke and pieces of the plane are clearly visible from the spot, visuals of which have emerged.
According to the main information, this accident happened in Baramati area of Pune district. Ajit Pawar was flying from Mumbai to Baramati in the morning. The accident occurred as soon as the plane landed near Baramati.
According to local officials and media reports, apart from Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, four other passengers were also on board the plane, all of whom died on the spot. Initial reports have confirmed a total of five deaths.
Immediately after the crash, ambulance and police teams gathered at the spot. In the videos and pictures that have surfaced, the plane is seen in completely broken parts, along with a cloud of heavy black smoke. There were clear indications that the plane had caught fire during landing.
Sources reveal that Ajit Pawar was going to Baramati for meetings related to local elections. Many meetings were scheduled in his programme, but this accident happened just before landing.
Maharashtra administration, police and aviation inspection officers are present at the spot. It is not yet clear whether the accident occurred due to technical fault, weather or any control lapse during landing. All aspects are being thoroughly investigated.
