National news:  Facebook has suspended the official page of Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav. More than 8 million people had connected with him on this page. The SP chief is actively involved on Facebook, as well as on other social media platforms. He has frequently raised political and public issues on Facebook. The sudden suspension of his account has caused disappointment among his supporters.

Atul Pradhan, MLA from Meerut's Sardhana assembly constituency, has responded to the suspension of the party president's Facebook page. In a post on the social media platform X, he said, "The government cannot remove Akhilesh Yadav from the public's hearts by shutting down his Facebook account."

Supporters angry with Facebook's action

Reactions to Facebook's action have begun pouring in from supporters of the Samajwadi Party and Akhilesh Yadav. Many supporters have called it an attack on democracy and have also blamed the government. One supporter said that when the people's leader speaks, the government becomes nervous. Today, Facebook suspended Akhilesh's official page, which had over 8 million followers. This wasn't just a single page, but the voice of the people.

Social Media Controlled By Government

A Samajwadi Party leader wrote on the social media platform X, "The deactivation of the Facebook page of the national president of the country's third-largest party is a clear indication that the government wants to suppress free expression. Social media platforms have now become its puppets." He added, "I strongly condemn this and demand that Akhilesh Yadav's official Facebook page be restored immediately."

Similar reactions are coming from other leaders and supporters. One SP leader wrote, "The BJP government has crossed all limits of dictatorship. Today's shutdown of Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav's Facebook page is not just an attack on democracy, but an act of stifling freedom of expression. The BJP is forgetting that shutting down Facebook pages cannot suppress the voice of socialists."
