New Delhi: Amidst the ongoing tensions in West Asia, public anxiety regarding cooking gas has heightened; however, the government has clarified that there is no shortage of gas in the country. According to the Ministry of Petroleum, the supply of domestic LPG remains completely normal, and 100% availability is being ensured across the nation.

Most importantly, no instances of "dry-outs"—situations where gas runs out—have been reported anywhere so far. Despite this, reports have emerged from certain areas indicating that people are booking cylinders in excess of their actual needs; in response, the government has appealed to the public not to engage in panic-driven, excessive gas bookings.

What did the government say?

According to the government, Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) are continuously working to strengthen the supply chain, thereby ensuring that gas reaches every consumer in a timely manner. As of today, approximately 98% of LPG bookings are being processed online, a process that renders the system both more transparent and faster. Furthermore, many consumers have voluntarily surrendered their LPG connections after switching to Piped Natural Gas (PNG), a transition that has further alleviated the pressure on the supply network.

The government has also clarified that operations at retail outlets across the country remain entirely normal and are proceeding without any disruptions. The Ministry is maintaining constant contact with state governments to prevent any instances of panic-buying or unnecessary purchases driven by rumors. Officials emphasize that, given the current circumstances, it is far more crucial to rely on official information rather than paying heed to rumors.

What about availability of fertilizers?

In addition to LPG, the government has also provided reassuring news regarding the availability of fertilizers. Currently, the country holds a stock of approximately 193.38 lakh metric tonnes of fertilizer, which accounts for roughly 50% of the requirements for the upcoming Kharif season. Moreover, additional supplies have been secured through international tenders to address any potential shortfalls.

The government's message is clear: there is absolutely no shortage of LPG, PNG, or other essential resources within the country. Consequently, there is no need for the general public to panic. Purchase gas only as per your actual needs and refrain from spreading rumors, so that the supply system continues to function smoothly and gas reaches every household on time.
