Visakhapatnam: Reliance Industries Executive Director Anant Ambani on Sunday offered prayers at the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Andhra Pradesh's Tirumala Hills and also donated his hair in keeping with a centuries-old tradition of devotion.
During the visit, expressing his faith in Lord Sri Venkateswara Swamy, Anant Ambani also donated his hair as per the age-old tradition of the temple. Along with this, the youngest son of billionaire industrialist and Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) Chairperson Mukesh Ambani also announced a significant contribution to the temple administration.
During his visit to the temple, Anant Ambani announced that Reliance Industries would donate 25 electric buses to the TTD, costing approximately Rs 27.5 crore. The company will also cover the salaries and other benefits of 50 drivers to operate these buses. It is also committed to supporting the development of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in Tirumala. This initiative aims to promote environmentally friendly transportation in Tirumala.
Anant Ambani also participated in the Suprabhata Seva at the temple and was seen feeding elephants there on Sunday. He then had darshan of Lord Venkateswara Swamy and participated in traditional religious rituals at the temple premises.
After the darshan, Anant Ambani offered his hair to the deity. The tradition of hair donation has been prevalent in Tirumala for hundreds of years. Devotees consider it a symbol of renunciation of ego, humility, and complete devotion to God. Every day, thousands of devotees shave their heads and donate their hair to Tirumala to fulfill a wish or express their devotion.
After the darshan and Kesh Daan, the temple's Vedic scholars offered him the Veda Ashirvachanam. TTD officials then presented him with the Srivari Teertha Prasadam and a traditional silk shawl.
In addition to his religious activities, Anant Ambani is also involved in animal conservation and wildlife rescue and rehabilitation through the Vantara Project. He has repeatedly emphasized the need for compassion and protection for all living beings. Through his work for animal welfare, he has repeatedly advocated for compassion for all living beings.
