In a decisive blow to terrorism, security forces neutralized six Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists in South Kashmir within 48 hours, with operations in Tral’s Nader village on May 15, 2025, and Shopian’s Keller Forest on May 13, as announced in a joint press conference by the Indian Army and J&K Police on May 16, 2025. IGP Kashmir Vidhi Kumar Birdi hailed the operations, launched based on precise intelligence, as a testament to the forces’ synergy in dismantling terror networks post the April 2025 Pahalgam attack that killed 26 civilians.

Tral and Shopian Operations
The Tral encounter saw three terrorists, including Aamir Nazir Wani, killed in a two-hour gunbattle in Nader village, Awantipora, after they opened fire on a joint team of the Army, J&K Police, and CRPF. The Shopian operation on May 13 eliminated three others in Keller Forest, targeting a Jaish hideout. Both operations, detailed by India Today, recovered arms, including AK-47 rifles and grenades, confirming the terrorists’ plans for further attacks.

Strengthened Anti-Terror Strategy
The operations reflect India’s intensified counter-terrorism campaign, leveraging advanced surveillance like drones and RISAT-2B satellite imagery. IGP Birdi emphasized the role of real-time intelligence in the success, with forces maintaining a tight cordon to prevent escapes.  Posts on X praised the forces’ precision, with users noting the operations’ impact on regional security.

Regional and National Impact
The elimination of 14 terrorists in recent weeks, including these six, underscores India’s zero-tolerance policy, as reiterated by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in Srinagar. The operations have weakened Jaish’s infrastructure in South Kashmir, a hotbed of militancy. Public sentiment on X reflects pride in the forces, with calls for continued vigilance. As India sustains pressure post-Operation Sindoor, these successes bolster national security and deter cross-border terrorism.
