Arvind Kejriwal asks AAP MLAs, MPs to donate 1-month salary for Punjab flood relief

Arvind Kejriwal sharing a video message on X, asked all political parties and the central government to provide aid to the people of Punjab who have been affected by the floods in the state. 

AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday stated that all party MLAs and MPs will donate one month's salary to the Punjab Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. He further stated that the contribution is done with an aim to support flood relief efforts in Punjab, which is badly affected by recent heavy rainfall and flooding.

In his video message on X, Kejriwal asked the political parties and the central government to extend support to Punjab during this crisis.

"Punjab has always stood tall in the face of any crisis faced by the nation. Today, Punjab itself is in crisis. I appeal to all my fellow countrymen to extend every possible help to the people of Punjab in this difficult time,” he said. 

"All Members of Parliament and MLAs of the Aam Aadmi Party are donating one month's salary to the Punjab Chief Minister's Relief Fund. Let us all come together and help Punjab overcome this terrible tragedy," the caption of the post read. 

He talked about the the severe impact of recent floods caused by overflowing rivers, Sutlej, Beas and Ravi, and heavy rains in catchment areas of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.

"This is a time for unity and collective effort," Kejriwal added, appealing for nationwide solidarity in helping Punjab recover from the disaster.
