New Delhi: Monsoon seems to be gaining momentum once again in many parts of the country. On August 14, there may be rain in many areas of North India including Delhi-NCR. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in many states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir. At some places, strong winds may also occur along with thunderstorms.

The effect of rain will not be limited to North India only. The weather is expected to remain active over many parts of East and Northeast India as well as Central India. In such a situation, people need to be careful about the weather in the next few days.

In which states can rain cause more trouble?

According to the Meteorological Department, on August 14, there may be heavy rain in many states including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal and Sikkim. Heavy to very heavy rain is expected at some places in Arunachal Pradesh and Assam-Meghalaya in the Northeast.

There will be rainy season in Central India also. There is a possibility of heavy rain in Chhattisgarh and surrounding areas. At the same time, monsoon activities can be seen in western parts also.

How will the weather be in Delhi?

There are chances of rain in Delhi-NCR on Friday. The capital and surrounding areas may remain cloudy with rain. Due to sudden heavy rains in many places, the problem of waterlogging on the roads and affecting the speed of traffic may arise.

It would be better for people living in Delhi to keep an eye on the weather especially in the morning and evening. It would also be wise to avoid going out in open areas during rains.

Why increased concern in Uttarakhand?

There is a possibility of more intense rain in Uttarakhand in the coming days. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at different places in the state between August 14 and 17.

Continuous rain in hilly areas increases the risk of landslides and road closure. The water level of rivers and storm drains can also increase rapidly. In such a situation, tourists heading to the mountains should not ignore the warnings of the local administration and meteorological department.

Will there be storms and strong winds?

Along with rain, thunderstorms and strong winds can also be seen in many states. Due to the activation of some weather systems, there is a possibility of thunderstorm conditions in many parts of Eastern and Central India.
