Baba Siddique murder case: The investigation into the murder of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and former three-time MLA, Baba Siddique, has intensified with five additional arrests made on Friday. The total number of suspects arrested in connection with the case now stands at nine, as confirmed by the Mumbai Police.

Arrests linked to Lawrence Bishnoi gang

The latest arrests were made after a series of police raids in Karjat, Dombivli, and Navi Mumbai. Authorities had received specific intelligence that led to the apprehension of the suspects. According to the police, these five individuals had been in contact with members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, which is suspected to be involved in the killing. A police officer, speaking to the media, said, "The total number of arrests in the case now stands at nine. Further probe is underway."

Suspects in police custody

The five arrested individuals were produced before a Metropolitan Magistrate in Mumbai and were remanded to police custody until October 25. These arrests follow the earlier apprehension of four other suspects in connection with Siddique’s murder.

Previous arrests and gang connections

Among those previously arrested were Gurmail Baljit Singh (23) from Haryana, Dharmaraj Rajesh Kashyap (19) from Uttar Pradesh, Harishkumar Balakram Nisad (23), and Pravin Lonkar. Notably, Pravin Lonkar’s brother, Shubham Lonkar, had allegedly posted on Facebook that the Lawrence Bishnoi gang was behind the killing. Shubham, who has previously faced police interrogation for a firing incident outside actor Salman Khan’s residence in Bandra, remains at large.

Weapons seized and forensic examination

The investigation team has recovered three weapons, including an Australian-made Glock pistol, a Turkish pistol, and a country-made revolver. These firearms have been sent for forensic analysis to match the bullets retrieved from Baba Siddique’s body.

Baba Siddique, 66, was shot dead on October 12 by three gunmen in front of his son Zeeshan’s office in Mumbai. Siddique, who was a former Congress leader, had recently joined Ajit Pawar’s NCP.
