Hyderabad: Bandi Bhagirath Sai, son of Minister of State for Home Sanjay Kumar, has been arrested in the POCSO case. After this the politics of Telangana have heated up. At midnight on Saturday, the police took Bhagirath before the magistrate. The court sent him to jail till 29 May. 25 year old Bhagirath is accused of sexually exploiting a 17 year old girl. As soon as the case comes to light, the opposition is attacking. The family is calling it a conspiracy.
The case opened on 8 May. The mother of the minor reached the police station. Said in the complaint that Bhagirath was in touch with his daughter and exploited her. Police registered a case under BNS and POCSO Act. Later, when the girl gave her statement, the police added more stringent sections.
Cyberabad Police formed several teams to find Bhagirath. Raids were also conducted outside Telangana. News was received that he was hiding on the outskirts of Hyderabad. Then a special operation was conducted. Picked him up from Narsingi area. After arrest, brought to Petbasheerabad police station. The interrogation continued there throughout the night.
Police claim that Bhagirath was questioned in front of the Panchas. During interrogation he admitted some important things. After this he was formally arrested. After getting the medical done, he was presented in the court. Currently, the police are also examining mobile, chat and call records.
Lawyer Karunasagar said that Bhagiratha did not run away. He himself came to join the investigation and is giving full cooperation. The lawyer says that this case is about the relationship between two people. Later it was given legal color to create pressure. We are confident that our side will come out strong in the court.
Bhagirath has also given a complaint. Alleged that the girl's family was pressurizing her for marriage. If refused then ask for money. Threatened that he would be implicated in a false case. Bhagirath claims that out of fear he even gave Rs 50 thousand. Then a demand of Rs 5 crore came. Police are now investigating both the FIRs.
The minister wrote on social media that no one is bigger than the law. The son will also have to go through the legal process. The family has full faith in the judiciary. He said that it is not right to form any opinion before the truth comes out.
The opposition has raised the demand for an impartial investigation. TRS leader K. Kavita wrote a letter to PM Modi. Demanded that prisoner Sanjay be removed from the cabinet, otherwise the investigation may be affected. BJP is saying that the law is taking its course. Agencies should be trusted.
