Bengaluru: In Bengaluru's Electronic City area, the police had arrested a young man who used to steal women's drying underwear, wear it, and then take his photographs. People were surprised at how someone could do such strange things. Police identified the accused as Amal N Aji, 23, a resident of Kerala. Several women's underwear and photographs recorded on their mobile phones were recovered from his room.
For some days, women in Vidyanagar and surrounding areas were complaining that their clothes, especially underwear, were disappearing from the terrace and courtyard. Initially many people ignored it, considering it to be a normal thing. But when clothes started disappearing from many houses one after the other, people felt that the matter was something else. After this the local people informed the police.
After receiving the information, the Hebbagoudi Police Station team had increased patrolling in the area. Hoysala patrolling team was deployed and footage from CCTV cameras installed nearby was viewed. In the video, a young man was seen roaming around buildings at night and picking up clothes. After his identity became clear, the police laid a trap and caught him.
After his arrest, when the police searched his room, much women's underwear was found there. Apart from this, there were dozens of photographs in his mobile phone, in which he was seen posing wearing the same stolen clothes. Police officials had said that he was not doing this for the first time, but this act had been going on for a long time.
The police had registered a case against him under several sections of the Indian Justice Code 2023. After this, he was taken into custody and interrogation was started, so that it could be found out how many times he did this work and whether he was involved in such activities in any other area also.
According to the police, during initial interrogation the accused could not give any concrete reason for his behaviour. Officials were trying to find out whether he was suffering from some mental problem or it was the result of some unusual habit. If necessary, it was also said that he should be mentally examined, so that it could be clear why he was doing this.
