Bengaluru Tragedy (Social Media)

National News: Just before the celebration of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) who became the winners of IPL 2025, a terrible accident took place in Bangalore. M. 11 people died tragically in the stampede outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium, while many others were seriously injured. The accident happened when thousands of fans had gathered outside the stadium to watch the team's victory parade.

Disorganization becomes deadly

A huge crowd gathered outside the stadium to witness RCB's first title and catch a glimpse of the players. As soon as the gates were opened, the crowd became uncontrollable and a stampede ensued. Many people were trying to break walls and climb trees to enter. It was told that due to the breaking of a slab near Gate No. 1, some people were crushed and lost their lives on the spot.

Questions raised on poor traffic management and negligence

After the incident, many people criticized the administration on social media. It was told that if the traffic system was better and proper crowd control arrangements were made, then this accident could have been avoided. Due to heavy crowd and jam, the 'Open Bus Parade' was also canceled and confined inside the stadium.

1.5 Crore Population & 1.23 Crore Vehicles: Bengaluru's Congested Reality

Bengaluru Traffic Police Joint Commissioner MN Anucheth said the city has 872 vehicles per 1,000 people — more than Mumbai and Delhi. The number of vehicles increased by 8% between 2013 and 2023, but roads and infrastructure did not grow as much. This is the reason why Bangalore is among the most traffic-congested cities in the world today.

Not the traffic, but the tragedy

An open bus parade was supposed to be held to celebrate RCB's victory, but the event was canceled due to traffic and parking problems. The police had already appealed to avoid the central business district from 3 pm to 8 pm, but failed to control the crowd. People are saying on social media — "Bangalore's traffic is no longer a meme, it's become a cause of death."

After all, who is responsible?

After the incident, the round of accusations has started to determine the responsibility. Some people are holding the traffic department responsible, while others are holding the organizing committee responsible. But one thing is clear — many innocent people paid the price for the negligence of public safety.
