Congress changes its candidate from Wazirganj

Congress has changed its candidate from Wazirganj. The party has cut the son’s ticket and instead given the ticket to the father. Instead of Shashi Shekhar Singh, Congress has fielded Awadhesh Kumar Singh. Awadhesh Kumar Singh is a senior Congress leader and has served as a minister. In 2015, he won the Wazirganj seat. In 2020, the party replaced him with his son Shashi Shekhar Singh, who lost the election.

BJP Wins, Congress Faces Defeat

BJP candidate Virendra Singh had received 70,713 votes, while Congress candidate Shashi Shekhar Singh managed only 48,283 votes. Interestingly, just yesterday Bihar Congress had posted on X that Shashi Shekhar Singh would be given the symbol.

Neetu Singh Once Eyed BJP

Congress gives ticket to Neetu Singh who once expressed desire to join BJP
This list also includes Hisua MLA Neetu Singh’s name. Neetu Singh had once publicly expressed her wish to join the BJP. She had said that if the BJP gave her a ticket for the Lok Sabha elections, she would join the party. After two Congress MLAs switched sides, Neetu Singh’s picture with Deputy CM Vijay Singh and Samrat Chaudhary went viral.

Congress Still Fields Neetu Kumari

However, Neetu Singh clarified that she had only gone to congratulate the Deputy CM. She said she also discussed her constituency’s development. In the 2020 elections, Neetu Kumari defeated BJP’s Anil Singh by more than 17,000 votes. Neetu received 94,930 votes while Anil Singh secured 77,839 votes.

Earlier in 2015, Neetu Kumari had contested elections on a Samajwadi Party ticket, securing 14,188 votes. Speculation was that her closeness to BJP leaders might affect her ticket, but Congress has chosen to field her as its candidate.
