Voting, Complaints, Results- All in One Place: What Is ECINet? (Election Commission)
Bihar Elections 2025: The dates for Bihar Assembly elections 2025 have been announced on Monday. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar announced the election schedule from Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. This time elections in Bihar will be conducted in two phases. In the first phase, voting will be held on 121 seats on 6 November and in the second phase on 11 November, voting will be held on 122 seats. Counting of votes will be done on November 14.
Along with the election schedule, the biggest digital attraction this time was the ECINet app, which the Chief Election Commissioner described as the "Mother of All Apps." ECINet is a one-stop digital platform that integrates nearly 40 existing mobile and web applications of the Election Commission. Its purpose is to bring all election-related information and services to a single platform for voters, officials, and political parties.
ECINet has been designed in such a way that voters will no longer need to download different apps or go to many websites. This platform connects every process in digital form from registration to results. New voters can register through this app, update the existing details and also see if their name is in the voter list or not. In addition, it will be possible to download digital photo voter slip from ECINet. On the app, voters will also be able to see the information of their polling station, polling date, and candidates of their constituency. Through the feature called 'Know Your Candidate (KYC)', information up to the profiles, property and criminal records of the candidates will be transparent.

Any person can also file a complaint of violation of the election code of conduct through ECINet. The user will be able to send the photo or video evidence directly to the Commission. This will increase transparency and accountability. At the same time, real-time voting percentage and result updates will also be seen through the app, which will keep the public accurately and quickly informed.
The Election Commission states that the use of ECINet will not only facilitate voters but also strengthen data management and reporting systems. The process of sharing information from polling stations to state headquarters will now be faster and more efficient. This will reduce the digital divide and enhance the credibility of the electoral process.
Although some modules of ECINet were used in Punjab, Kerala, Gujarat, and West Bengal during the by-elections held in June 2025, it will be implemented to its full potential in the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025. The Election Commission believes that this platform will benefit not only voters but also election officials, political parties, and other stakeholders. This will be the first time a fully digital integrated election management system will be used in Bihar. The Commission hopes that ECINet will set a new standard for technology-based transparency for future elections.
