National News: Political activities in Bihar have intensified ahead of the Assembly elections, with all parties busy finalising their candidates. Meanwhile, Owaisi’s party AIMIM has released its first list of nominees.
While releasing the first list for the Bihar Assembly elections in Kishanganj, AIMIM’s state president Akhtarul Iman said, “AIMIM Bihar tried to prevent the division of secular votes and unite against communal forces, but the major alliance parties did not cooperate. As a result, a third alliance has been formed.”
He further said that AIMIM will contest elections in four districts of Kishanganj. Apart from that, the party will field its candidates in several seats of districts like Purnia, Katihar, Araria, Gaya, Motihari, Nawada, Jamui, Bhagalpur, Siwan, Darbhanga, Samastipur, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Vaishali, and Gopalganj.
AIMIM has decided to contest from Bahadurganj, Thakurganj, Kochadhaman, and Kishanganj in Kishanganj district; Amour, Baisi, and Kasba in Purnia; Balrampur, Pranpur, Manihari, Barari, and Kadwa in Katihar; Jokihat and Araria in Araria; Sherghati and Bela in Gaya; Dhaka and Narkatia in Motihari; Nawada Urban Assembly seat; Sikandra in Jamui; Bhagalpur and Nathnagar in Bhagalpur; Siwan Assembly seat in Siwan; Jale, Keoti, Darbhanga Rural, and Gaurabauram in Darbhanga; Kalyanpur in Samastipur; Bajpatti in Sitamarhi; Bisfi in Madhubani; Mahua in Vaishali; and Gopalganj Assembly seat in Gopalganj district.
It is worth mentioning that AIMIM announced yesterday that it will field candidates on 100 seats in Bihar—almost five times more than the last election. The party’s move is expected to cause losses to Congress and RJD, while it may benefit the BJP.
