Patna: After the two phases of Bihar elections voting on November 6 and November 11, the assembly election results will be declared on November 14, 2025. Ahead of the Bihar election counting and results on November 14, the Election Commission (ECI) has extended Model Code of Conduct (MCC) in Patna till November 16. Notably, this has been done in order to maintain the law and order in the district.

What are rules as per MCC in Patna?

Notably, the MCC was implemented on October 6 in the state after the election commission's election schedule announcement. It will remain in affect till the complete election process completes. In order to conduct the counting of votes peacefully, the District Magistrate of Patna has issued prohibitory orders under the Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023. As per this section, no victory processions is allowed until the MCC concludes.

Where will the counting be done?

It is worthy to be mentioned here that the counting of votes for all the 14 Legislative Assembly constituencies in Patna is scheduled to be held on November 14 at AN College. According to the district order, “A prohibitory order has been issued by the District Magistrate, Patna, under Section 163 of the BNSS, 2023, from the date of vote counting until the termination of the Model Code of Conduct. Violations of the MCC will not be tolerated.”

As per this the political parties as well as the individuals are not allowed to conduct meetings, processions, or do any demonstrations during this period. As per the notice, the use of sound amplification devices has also not been allowed.

The notice further stated, “No political party, person, or organisation shall undertake any activity contrary to the directions and guidelines issued by the Election Commission or the District Magistrate under the MCC. Providing shelter for political gatherings in government premises, rest houses, or hostels, and organising processions for political purposes, will not be permitted.”

Meanwhile, Election Commission of India, ahead of Bihar results 2025 in a X post wrote, ''Bihar Election 2025. Successful conduct of Bihar Elections: Zero Repolls. Zero Appeals during SIR in Bihar.''
