Mukesh Sahani Says he Won’t Contest Bihar Elections, Aims for Deputy CM as Alliance Targets 243 Seats

Bihar Elections 2025: As soon as the battle bell for the Bihar Assembly elections 2025 has been announced, Vikas sheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief Mukesh Sahani has created a stir in the mahagathbandhan by making a big announcement. While talking to the media after the nomination of his brother Santosh Sahni for the Gaudabauram assembly seat of Darbhanga, Sahni clearly said that he himself will not contest the elections. His entire focus will now be on ensuring the victory of all the candidates of the alliance. Sahni stressed, "Our aim is not to win just one seat but to ensure the victory of the Mahagathbandhan on 243 seats in Bihar. We will enter the field and campaign for every candidate. This time the role of VIP will be decisive."

Mukesh Sahani's political move 

Mukesh Sahani also expressed his ambition openly. He said, "I have no desire for Rajya Sabha or any post. My real target is to become the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar. To play a respectable role in the government by becoming the voice of the fishermen community and the Extremely Backward Class (EBC)." This statement of Sahni has come amid the tussle over seat sharing in the Mahagathbandhan, where there is talk of VIP getting 10-12 seats. Experts believe that this demand could test the unity of the alliance. 

Sahni clarified that the nomination of Bhai Santosh Sahni is not a personal decision but a political responsibility. "Having a family member contest elections is part of our party's strategy. Young and struggling leaders like Santosh are the faces of the new politics of Bihar."

VIP strategy in ticket distribution 

The VIP chief also threw light on ticket distribution. He said, "We have given priority to social balance and youth leadership. By giving a ticket to Santosh Sahni for seats like Goudabauram, we are strengthening the EBC and fishermen vote bank. Together we will write a new story of development of Bihar."

Mukesh Sahani announced he would go on a campaign tour across Bihar for all the candidates of the Mahagathbandhan in the coming days. "The priority of the party is to strengthen every candidate of the alliance. We will fight from the streets to the House." VIP has got 11 seats in the grand alliance, which also includes Gowda Bauram in the Darbhanga district. Here there is a direct contest between RJD and VIP.

Political equation of Bihar elections 

This announcement has come amid the Bihar elections of 2025, where there is a close contest between the Mahagathbandhan (RJD, Congress, VIP etc.) and the NDA (BJP, JDU). Sahni is not contesting the election and the demands of the Deputy CM are raising questions on the unity of the alliance. Earlier Sahni had talked about fighting Gowdabauram himself, but now he changed his strategy by fielding his brother.
