Jan Suraj released the first list of candidates: Prashant Kishore's party, Jan Suraj, has released its first list of candidates for the Bihar Assembly elections in 2025. A total of nine candidates have been announced on this list, including several well-known faces. Bhojpuri singer and actor Ritesh Pandey has been given the ticket from the highly-publicized Kargahar assembly seat in Rohtas district. This is the same seat from which Prashant Kishor himself was speculated to contest.
This first list of Jan Suraj has given opportunities to candidates from diverse sections of society and backgrounds. By nominating Preeti Kinnar from the Bhore seat in Gopalganj district, the party has sent a message of social inclusion. Meanwhile, R.K. Mishra has been nominated from the Darbhanga Sadar seat, Kishore Munna from Saharsa city, former ADG J.P. Singh from Chhapra city, and Ajit Ram from the Imamganj seat.
Additionally, Pawan Kishore has been nominated from the Sherghati seat in Gaya district, K.C. Sinha from the Kumhar seat, and Y.V. Giri from the Manjhi seat in Saran district. With these nominations, Jan Suraj has clearly signaled that the party prioritizes merit, social representation, and public engagement over traditional politics.

However, the party has yet to make any official announcement regarding Prashant Kishor's candidacy. It is rumored that the first list of Jan Suraj was expected to include 51 candidates, but only nine have been announced so far. This has fueled speculation that Prashant Kishor may be included in the second list.
Prashant Kishor has already indicated that if he contests elections, he will contest from his birthplace Kargahar or his hometown Raghopur. Now that Ritesh Pandey has been given the ticket from the Kargahar seat, it is believed that PK may contest from the Raghopur seat.
It's worth noting that Ritesh Pandey and former ADG J.P. Singh joined the Jan Suraj Party a few months ago and have now received tickets. This strategy by Jan Suraj clearly demonstrates the party's decision to bring new and trusted faces into politics.
