Bihar Elections 2025

National News: Election officials reiterated that the aim of this process is to ensure that genuine voters are not excluded from the voting process and illegal voters are removed from the list. The Election Commission of India (ECI) is set to delete about three lakh more names from Bihar's voting list under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. According to sources, this revision process, in which voters can file claims and objections to include or correct their names, is ending after two days.

According to media reports, an official said that the voters whose names are being removed did not submit the necessary identity documents to the Election Commission despite repeated notices. According to the draft voter list released on August 1, 2025, 65 lakh names have already been removed across the state. Sources say that the new deletion list includes voters from Seemanchal region, such as Purnia, Araria, Kishanganj, Supaul and Katihar as well as other parts of Bihar.

Voters will get last chance

The Election Commission is planning to publish a detailed list of such voters soon, so that they get a last chance to verify and claim their rights before the amendment process ends.

Political Parties And Voter Participation

In the final phase of the SIR process, according to official data released on Friday (August 29), participation from political parties remained limited while the response from individual voters was overwhelming. A total of 117 claims and objections were filed by political parties in Bihar between August 1 and 29. Of these, RJD filed nine claims, while CPI-ML filed 108 claims. No other political party filed any claim or objection before the commission.

In contrast, the Election Commission has received 2,11,650 personal applications from citizens to include their names in the voter list, out of which 29,796 applications were disposed of in the last seven days. Apart from this, 11,36,565 Form-6 were submitted during the amendment process, out of which 48,797 were disposed of last week.
