National news: Just before the Bihar Assembly elections, a major fight has erupted inside the Grand Alliance. The RJD and Congress cannot agree on seat sharing. Rahul Gandhi sent senior leader Ashok Gehlot to Patna to fix the problem. Gehlot met Lalu Prasad Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav for more than an hour. Still, no final decision was made. Gehlot said everything would be resolved by Thursday. Workers and voters of the alliance are confused and restless.
After the meeting, Ashok Gehlot told reporters that small disputes in big elections are normal. He said there are 243 seats in Bihar, and clashes on 5–10 seats are not a big deal. According to him, the alliance will stay united. Gehlot assured that Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav will campaign together. He added that the press conference on Thursday would clear all doubts. His words tried to show that unity was intact, but doubts remain.

Tejashwi Yadav avoided making clear statements on the issue. When questioned, he only said, “Everything is fine, answers will come tomorrow.” But Congress leaders are not happy. Bihar Congress chief Akhilesh Prasad Singh said party workers were demoralized by the confusion. He also rejected the idea of “friendly fights,” saying elections are direct contests. His anger showed how deep the frustration has gone inside Congress.

Even Purnia MP Pappu Yadav expressed disappointment. He said RJD fielding candidates against Congress candidates was wrong. He warned that this mistake could harm the Grand Alliance badly. His statement created more tension within the bloc. The Congress camp feels RJD is playing a selfish game. This has made unity in the alliance look weaker in front of the public.
अभी तक नहीं पता कि कौन… pic.twitter.com/YwSfYJspPO

The NDA leaders wasted no time in mocking the alliance. LJP chief Chirag Paswan said, “If they cannot handle two or three parties, how will they handle Bihar?” BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi also attacked. He said Congress sent Ashok Gehlot, who had split his own allies in Rajasthan. These comments added more pressure on the Grand Alliance leaders. NDA is trying to use this infighting as a big election issue.
At the press conference, Tejashwi Yadav made many promises, especially targeting women voters. He said if the Grand Alliance comes to power, Jeevika Didis will be given government jobs with a salary of ₹30,000. He also promised interest-free loans for two years. He said Nitish Kumar’s ₹10,000 scheme was meaningless and only his alliance would give real benefits. These promises created buzz, but critics called them unrealistic.

BJP leaders hit back strongly at Tejashwi. Union Minister Nityanand Rai said Lalu’s 15-year rule never cared for women. He reminded that Tejashwi as Deputy CM also ignored them. Bihar’s Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary said Tejashwi was desperate and telling lies for votes. BJP said people of Bihar will not be fooled. The NDA camp is confident these promises will backfire on the Grand Alliance.
In the middle of all this, RJD got another shock. Their candidate Shweta Suman’s nomination from Mohania was cancelled. The Election Commission found false details in her affidavit. BJP complained that her caste certificate from UP could not be valid in Bihar. The Commission agreed and rejected her papers. Later, RJD declared support for independent candidate Chhedi Paswan. This rejection showed poor candidate selection by RJD, adding to their troubles.
Analysts believe the dispute is not only about seats but also about leadership. Tejashwi wanted Rahul Gandhi to declare him the Chief Ministerial candidate. When that did not happen, he hardened his stand on seats. Experts say Thursday’s press conference might see Congress supporting Tejashwi as the CM face. After that, RJD may withdraw some candidates. But not all may pull out, meaning “friendly fights” could still happen. The crisis shows the fragile nature of the alliance.
