Bihar Elections 2025: Amid growing pressure over seat sharing within the Grand Alliance in Bihar, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Saturday called an emergency meeting of all its senior leaders. Party supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav and his son Tejashwi Yadav will also be present in this meeting. The main agenda of the meeting is to discuss the pressure being created by the allies regarding the number of seats so that a final decision can be taken as soon as possible. This meeting was called after the important Grand Alliance meeting, which was to be held today but was postponed.

VIP Chief Mukesh Sahni Unreachable

Amidst the delay in the official announcement of seat sharing in the Grand Alliance, Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief Mukesh Sahni is reported to be not reachable. According to sources, Sahni has fallen out of touch with the leaders of the Grand Alliance. It is being said that Sahni is adamant on the demand of 60 seats and is also insisting on declaring himself a candidate for the post of Deputy Chief Minister, due to which a deadlock has arisen.

Meeting between Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav

After returning to the country, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi can hold a meeting with Tejashwi Yadav today to break the ongoing deadlock over seat sharing in the Grand Alliance. According to sources, Congress has currently agreed to make Tejashwi Yadav the face of the Grand Alliance. The final decision on seat distribution in the Grand Alliance is expected to be taken only after this meeting.

Congress preparations

Congress has almost finalized the names of its candidates in Patna. Congress's screening committee meeting will be held in Delhi today for final confirmation of these names. This step shows the party's preparation amid the ongoing tussle over seat distribution in the Grand Alliance.

Almost final candidates of Congress

  • Kuṭumba: Rajesh Ram
  • Bhagalpur: Ajit Sharma
  • Kadwa: Shakeel Ahmed Khan
  • Buxar: Munna Tiwari
  • Khagaria: Chhatrapati Yadav
  • Muzaffarpur: Vijendra Chaudhary
  • Maharajganj: Vijay Shankar Dubey

Congress and VIP play a trick

The biggest deadlock in the Grand Alliance is regarding the demands of Congress and VIP. Congress is not ready for less than 70 seats, while VIP chief Mukesh Sahni is adamant on the demand of 30-40 seats and the post of Deputy Chief Minister.

VIP disagrees on 14 seats

Mukesh Sahni is not ready to compromise on less than 20 seats in the grand alliance. There was a long conversation between the two leaders in the meeting with Tejashwi Yadav late on Thursday evening. However, Sahni is not talking to anyone after the meeting. They are angry at the news of getting 14 seats, due to which there is a deadlock.

Proposed Seat Formula

According to sources, the seat-sharing formula in the Grand Alliance has almost been decided. Under the proposed formula:

  • RJD: 137 seats
  • Congress: 54 seats
  • VIP: 18 seats
  • Male: 22 seats
  • CPI: 4 seats
  • CPM: 6 seats
  • JMM (JMM): 2 seats
  • National LJP: 3 seats from RJD quota

The formal announcement is likely to be made in the next 1–2 days, in which Tejashwi Yadav and leaders of all major parties will be present.
