New Delhi: Just before the Rajya Sabha elections, there has been a sudden stir in the politics of Bihar. A meeting of Grand Alliance MLAs was called in a hotel in Patna the night before voting, but four Congress MLAs did not reach there. They could not even be contacted, due to which various kinds of discussions started in the political circles and concern increased in the opposition camp.
Before the Rajya Sabha elections, the leaders of the Grand Alliance had hosted their MLAs at Hotel Panash in Patna to keep them together. Its purpose was to prevent any kind of political turmoil or possibility of cross-voting before voting. Prominent Grand Alliance leader Tejashwi Yadav was also present in the meeting and the strategy was being discussed with all the MLAs.
Congress has a total of six MLAs, but only two MLAs attended the meeting. Kamrul Hoda from Kishanganj and Abhishek Ranjan from Chanpatia reached the hotel, while four MLAs did not reach there till late night and could not be contacted. It was said that the MLAs who could not be traced include Manohar Singh, Manoj Biswas, Abdur Rehman and Surendra Kushwaha.
Numbers are very important in Rajya Sabha elections. In such a situation, if some MLAs are not present at the time of voting or their attitude changes, then the entire equation can change. This is the reason why efforts to establish contact between Congress and RJD leaders continued till late night. This development created confusion in the opposition camp.
This time there is competition for five Rajya Sabha seats in Bihar. The results on some of these seats are considered almost certain, but the contest on one seat has become very interesting. This is the reason why both the camps are trying their best to keep their respective MLAs united and hotel politics is also being seen before the elections.
Political analysts believe that such developments could also be a part of pressure and strategy just before the elections. However, Congress leaders say that ultimately all the MLAs will stand with the Grand Alliance. Now everyone's eyes are on the voting of Rajya Sabha elections and its results, which will make it clear how much impact the last-minute political turmoil had.
