New Delhi: The BJP has launched a fresh political attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, claiming that his leadership is being openly questioned by his own party colleagues, alliance partners and even members of the Gandhi family. The ruling party said recent remarks by Congress leaders point to growing unease within the opposition camp.

Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said the Congress was witnessing "open rebellion" against Rahul Gandhi. "Today, Rahul Gandhi is facing a no-confidence motion not from the BJP, but from within his own party, his allies and even his family," Poonawalla said.

What Has Triggered the BJP's Claim?

The BJP cited comments made by Congress MP Imran Masood, who recently said that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra would be a better prime ministerial face than Rahul, which also received support from Robert Vadra. According to the BJP, such statements reflect a deeper leadership crisis within the Congress.

"When Congress MPs themselves say that Rahul Gandhi is not fit to lead and that Priyanka Gandhi should take charge, it clearly shows the loss of faith in him," Poonawalla said. "This is not BJP propaganda. These are words coming from Congress leaders."

BJP also slammed Rahul over his remarks in Berlin, alleging that the Congress leader speaks against India and defames the country on foreign soil because he is “rattled” by the fact that his party colleagues and even family members are showing “no confidence” in him.

Are Allies Also Unhappy?

The BJP also pointed to unease within the INDIA bloc, claiming that some opposition allies are distancing themselves from Rahul's leadership style. Poonawalla alleged that coordination within the alliance has weakened due to "confusion and lack of direction" from the Congress leadership.

“(CPI-M MP) John Brittas has said Rahul Gandhi should not have gone abroad, leaving a Parliament session. He also made a big disclosure that not only the Left but the DMK was also against the ‘Bharat Badnami Yatra’ of Rahul Gandhi. They said Rahul Gandhi does not take his work seriously,” he said.

The BJP spokesperson said, "INDIA alliance partners are watching Congress implode from within," adding that "they know that Rahul Gandhi cannot provide stable leadership, and that is why cracks are becoming visible."

What About the Family Angle?

Taking a sharp dig, the BJP claimed that even members of the Gandhi family are no longer seen as fully backing Rahul Gandhi. Without naming individuals, Poonawalla said, "When family members are being projected as alternatives, it speaks volumes about the internal state of the Congress."
