New Delhi: The BJP on Thursday filed a notice to terminate Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's Parliament membership, while no privilege motion against the leader will be filed.

What is the reason of notice?

The development comes a day after Rahul Gandhi's speech in Lok Sabha, in which he made remarks against the India-US trade deal and the Union Budget.

During the speech, the congress leader spoke on geopolitical conflict, artificial intelligence and the trade deal with the US.

"You yourself admit that we are facing a global storm that the era of one superpower is over, that geopolitical conflicts are intensifying, and that energy and finance are being weaponised. Yet, despite acknowledging this reality, you have allowed the United States to weaponise energy and financial systems in ways that impact us. When America says we cannot buy oil from a particular country, it effectively means our energy security is being dictated externally that energy itself is being weaponised against us. Are you not ashamed of this? I am saying you have compromised India's interests," he said.

Who has filed the notice?

BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has filed a notice to introduce a motion to terminate Rahul Gandhi's membership.

Dubey on Thursday clarified that there is no proposal to move a privilege motion against Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, but had submitted a substantive motion seeking Gandhi’s suspension from Parliament.

He alleged that the Congress MP made baseless allegations without any facts  on Wednesday and also demanded in its notice that Gandhi should be banned from contesting elections for life.

While talking to media he said that, "I have today moved a motion in the Lok Sabha against Rahul Gandhi on how he is misleading the nation with the help of forces like Soros. In the motion, I have said that the matter should be discussed, his membership should be terminated, and he should be barred from contesting elections for life."

What Priyanka Gandhi say on BJP'S action?

While responding to the question regarding BJP's action against Rahul Gandhi, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra  said that "They will do FIR, cases and whatnot against Rahul Gandhi, but nothing is going to affect him..."

What did the BJP say?

Thee BJP leaders criticised Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Thursday, accusing him of recklessly defaming individuals.

While talking about action against Rahul Gandhi, BJP MP Madan Rathore said, "Rahul Gandhi does anti-national acts, and criticises the country abroad. Is this not an anti-national act? He should speak in the Parliament. Even in the House, he levels allegations against a minister on behalf of the PM. If he had read the Budget, then he would not have said all that..."

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi also said that, "He is an immature part-time politician. He has not presented any evidence for what he said yesterday...The Parliamentary Affairs Ministry will decide this (on BJP moving a privilege motion against Rahul Gandhi)."

Union Minister Chirag Paswan said that, "The way Rahul Gandhi makes comments and speaks in the House without any authentication and validation. He holds a serious role, and it is necessary for him to understand its gravity... This step (privilege motion) might be taken, but it is not confirmed yet."
