Kolkata: A bomb threat was received on an IndiGo flight from Dibrugarh, Assam, to Kolkata. The threat was written in lipstick in the flight's bathroom. Following this, the flight made an emergency landing and was taken for investigation as per protocol. An IndiGo flight from Dibrugarh, Assam, to Kolkata made an emergency landing on Saturday after a bomb threat message was found written in lipstick in the flight's washroom. According to officials, IndiGo flight 6E6894 (A-320) landed safely at 7:37 pm and was taken to isolation as per protocol. All passengers were also safely disembarked.

It is noteworthy that two bomb threats have been reported on IndiGo flights in a single day. Earlier in the day, a crew member on a flight departing from Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport for Shillong found a threatening note on paper in the washroom of the plane during boarding. According to an HT report, a note found in the plane's restroom stated that there was a bomb on board. Upon discovering the note, passengers were immediately evacuated. The plane was then taken for a security check.

Earlier on Saturday, an Indigo flight at Kolkata Airport received a note from the pilot just before takeoff, which caused a lot of panic. The plane was immediately evacuated. According to reports, the note threatened to blow up the plane. An investigation is underway after the evacuation. A high alert has also been declared at the airport.

What was the incident?

Indigo flight 6E3074 was scheduled to depart from Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport for Shillong at 9:15 am. Following the bomb threat, it was moved to an isolation bay. During boarding, the pilot found a note in the toilet, which stated that there was a bomb inside the plane. Passengers were immediately deplaned.

This information caused panic among the passengers. Following the warning, the plane was diverted to a different location and all passengers were disembarked. Security agencies began searching the plane. Airport officials said an investigation is underway to determine who placed the note on the plane. Sources said that after completing security checks, the flight departed for its destination at around 11:30 am.

Has such incidents happened before?

It is worth noting that this is not the first incident of a bomb threat on an Indigo flight. In January, an Indigo flight carrying 222 passengers received a bomb threat after takeoff, forcing it to make an emergency landing in Lucknow, where it was searched.

Last year, a Kolkata-Mumbai Indigo flight (6E-5227) also received a bomb threat. At that time, an unknown person called the airport claiming that there were explosives on board. All 195 passengers were evacuated and the plane was searched, although nothing suspicious was found.

What did airport officials say?

Airport officials said security standards were followed in this incident as well, and no explosives have been found so far. A day earlier, five schools in Delhi had received bomb threat emails, which were later dismissed as hoaxes. Officials said the emails contained provocative and objectionable content, claiming, "Delhi will become Khalistan and there will be bomb blasts in schools at 1:11 pm." The emails also stated that an explosion would occur inside Parliament at 2:11 pm, prompting heightened vigilance and coordination among various agencies.
