Raipur: An accident took place in the Jashpur district of Chhattisgarh late on Saturday night, which shocked the entire area. A speeding car rammed into a parked trailer near Patratoli turn on NH-43. The collision was so severe that the front part of the car was completely crushed, and all five people sitting in it died on the spot. The sound of the accident was heard far away, after which people nearby ran to the spot.
According to local people, all the youth were residents of Charaidand area. There was a cultural program held near the village on Saturday, and they were returning home late at night after seeing it. It was becoming dark and there was less traffic on the road. For this reason, the speed of the car must have been slightly higher. As the car was taking a turn near Patratoli, the driver failed to see the parked trailer in time and the vehicle rammed straight into its rear.
When the police team reached the spot, the scene was extremely painful. The front part of the car was almost stuck to the steel frame of the trailer. The bodies of all five people were trapped inside. A villager present at the spot said, "The collision was so strong that everything ended in an instant. It was not easy to even take someone out."
Despite it being night, the police and local youth together took out the dead bodies. All the bodies have been sent for postmortem and family members have been informed. There is mourning in the village.
The initial estimate of the police is that the speed of the car was excessive and the trailer parked on the road was without reflectors. It is also being investigated whether the trailer was parked properly or not. Many times trucks and trailers are parked on the highway without parking lights, which leads to such accidents.
This road has become the center of accidents for the last few months. Villagers say that accidents have increased at night due to lack of lighting and heavy vehicles parked on the roadside. People have demanded from the administration better lighting, sign boards on the highway and increased patrolling at night.
Since all five youths were from the same village, there was an atmosphere of mourning in the entire area. Lamps did not light in the houses of many families and people said that this is an accident which no one will be able to forget for a long time.
