CJP Press Conference: Modi-Shah Protecting Gyanesh Kumar, Claims CJP Leader Ashutosh Ranka (ANI)
New Delhi: Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Deepke and co-convenors Ashutosh Ranka and Saurabh Das, who were detained ahead of the proposed protest at Jantar Mantar, were released on Sunday. The three leaders were produced before the Special Executive Magistrate (SEM) based in Delhi Cantt. He was released from there after paying a bond of Rs 50,000 on the condition of maintaining peace and good conduct for one year. After the release, CJP leaders held a press conference and made serious allegations against the Central Government and Delhi Police. Describing the detention action as an attack on democratic rights, he indicated to continue the movement.
In the press conference, Saurabh Das alleged that CJP workers were brutalised at the behest of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He also raised questions on the role of the Human Rights Commission and asked why the Commission is silent on this entire incident. Das termed the Delhi Police's action as kidnapping rather than arrest. He claimed that after being detained, his mobile phones were also confiscated and there is a possibility that the phones may be hacked. However, these allegations have not been independently verified and the police's side is yet to come forward with regard to these claims.
CJP co-convenor Ashutosh Ranka targeted the central government and BJP over Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. He alleged that Narendra Modi and Amit Shah were protecting the Chief Election Commissioner. Ranka also claimed that Gyanesh Kumar is working to benefit BJP in the elections. These allegations have been made by CJP leaders. During the press conference, the party also raised questions regarding the detention proceedings and called it worrying for the democratic system.
Referring to Saturday's incident, Ranka said that he, Saurabh Das and Abhijeet Deepke were detained after entering the plane. He alleged that even after being informed about the demise of Abhijeet Deepke's grandmother, the policemen were present there with cameras and mics. In its statement, CJP described the release of the three leaders as a major legal victory and accused the BJP of going beyond the Emergency.
After release, Abhijeet Dipke left for his village in Hingoli, Maharashtra. He said that Saurabh Das and Ashutosh Ranka will present the party's side in the press conference to be held at 2 pm. Actually, Deepke's grandmother had passed away on Saturday. Before his last rites, he reached the village for his last darshan.
In the information released on the social media platform X, Delhi Police said that the three leaders were arrested as a precautionary measure under the necessary legal process. On Sunday he was produced before the Special Executive Magistrate. According to the police, the court released him after paying a bond of Rs 50,000 on the condition of maintaining peace and good conduct for one year. CJP had announced a demonstration at Jantar Mantar on October 10 demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The police had not given permission for the demonstration due to law and order concerns. After this incident, the political debate regarding the right to protest and police action has intensified in the capital.
