CJP Says Centre Reached Out Amid 'Chalo Sansad' Protest, Abhijeet Dipke Ends Hunger Strike

New Delhi: For the first time since the protest at Jantar Mantar began, the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Monday claimed that the Centre had reached out to it and said that the party spokespersons will meet Union Minister and former BJP president JP Nadda.

What did Cockroach Janta Party say?

The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) leaders on Monday said that they are going to meet Union Minister JP Nadda and claimed that the central government had contacted the party ahead of the proposed march to Parliament. CJP spokesperson Saurabh Das said in a post on X that he and fellow spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka were going to meet JP Nadda after being contacted by the government earlier in the day.

Taking to X, Saurav Das in a post wrote, "It’s 11:52 AM. Ashutosh Ranka and I, on behalf of the Cockroach Janta Party, are on our way to meet J.P. Nadda. The government had reached out for talks in the morning. Our demands are clear. The youth has gathered in huge numbers. We shall win!"

However, there was no official confirmation from the government on the claimed outreach.

Did Abhijeet Dipke end hunger strike?

CJP founder Abhijit Dipke has ended his hunger strike, stating that talks are ongoing with the government. Until then, he has asked the protesters to suspend the protest. CJP spokespersons Saurabh Das and Ashutosh Ranka will meet with Union Minister JP Nadda

What about the protest?

Earlier on Monday, thousands of CJP supporters marched from Jantar Mantar to Parliament despite prohibitory orders. Delhi Police said that permission for the march had neither been sought nor granted.

This march has been taken out two days after the incident when social activist Sonam Wangchuk was removed from the protest site at Jantar Mantar and taken to Safdarjung Hospital.

Meanwhile, tension remains high in Jantar Mantar and surrounding areas. Thousands of protesters have gathered on nearby streets, including Connaught Place and Parliament Street. Clashes broke out at several locations when police prevented people from crossing barricades. Protesters alleged that the police resorted to lathicharge.
