National News: A major accident occurred due to a sudden cloudburst in the Rajgarh area of the Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday night. The strong current accompanied by heavy rains wreaked havoc in the entire area. The administration said that so far the bodies of three people have been recovered, while five people are still missing.
As soon as the accident was reported, the district administration immediately sent police and disaster management teams to the spot. SDRF and local volunteers have also started relief work. The search operation is going on continuously to find the missing people. Officials say that relief work is becoming challenging due to difficult geographical conditions and continuous rain.
Sudden floods damaged many houses. Some houses were completely washed away, while many were partially damaged. Standing crops in the fields were destroyed, and cattle were also washed away. Movement has been disrupted due to debris accumulation on the roads. Many villages have lost contact with the main roads.
The administration has assured immediate financial assistance to the families of the deceased. Temporary camps have been set up for the families whose houses have been destroyed. Food and medicines are being arranged there. Officials said that after assessing the damage, further assistance will be provided to the affected people.
There is an atmosphere of panic among the people since the incident. Many families have left their homes and reached higher areas and safer places. The administration has converted local schools and community buildings into temporary shelters.
The Meteorological Department has warned that there is a possibility of heavy rain in the upper areas of Jammu and Kashmir in the coming days. The administration has advised people not to go near rivers and streams. Experts believe that such incidents are occurring repeatedly due to changing weather and weak mountain slopes.
