Shiv Sena to Congress!

After the Shiv Sena (UBT), led by Uddhav Thackeray, declared its candidates for four of the six Lok Sabha seats in Mumbai, including the Mumbai North West seat that he is vying for, the expelled Congress politician attacked the Maharashtra Congress leadership. Additionally, he stated that the Congress leadership must resist being coerced by the UBT.

Former persident

The former president of the Mumbai Congress had stated that to accept the Shiv Sena (UBT) decision to unilaterally field candidates in Mumbai would be to allow the demise of Congress. In the 2014 elections, Nirupam had lost to Gopal Shetty of the BJP in the same constituency. He apparently wants to run from the Mumbai North-West constituency, but by nominating its own candidate, Shiv Sena (UBT) pulled pranks.
