Danger of new variants: Insacog & WHO warning

According to INSACOG (Indian Sars-Cov-2 Genomics Consortium), four new cases of NB.1.8.1 variant of Kovid-19 and four new cases of LF.7 variant have been found in India. These are the same variants that are spreading rapidly in China and other Asian countries.

  • WHO has placed these variants in the category 'variants under monitoring', that is, they are not in the category of serious danger yet, but it is necessary to keep an eye on them.
  • Mutations such as the A435s, V445H and T478i present in spike protein of NB.1.8.1 variant, make it more infectious than other variants.
  • It also has the ability to dodge immunity, which can also neutralize the protection from pre -infection or vaccination.
  • JN.1 most common variant in the country currently
  • The most JN.1 variant in India is currently coming out, which has been found in more than 50% of cases.
  • After this, cases of BA.2 (26%) and Omikron Sabalines (20%) are also being seen.

Status of states: Gujarat and North India are also alert

Vigilance only rescue

Although the cases that have been reported so far are not seriously worrisome, experts believe that if the infection is not found in time in time, this situation can be spoiled again. Therefore, it is necessary that people do not ignore precautions like wearing masks, avoiding crowds, and testing in case of symptoms.
