PM Modi Assures Assistance to Nepal: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday pledged assistance to the Nepal, which has been affected by heavy rainfall, floods and landslides. PM Modi said that India as a ''friendly neighbor and first responder,'' in the time of crisis, will provide assistance to Nepal, after heavy rains and landslides that claimed 51 lives in the region.

Expressing deep sorrow over the loss of lives and extensive damage due to the heavy rains, floods and landslides in Nepal, PM Modi stressed about India’s steadfast support to Nepal during this difficult time.

PM Modi, affirming India’s commitment to extend all necessary assistance to Nepal through his social media handle wrote, “The loss of lives and damage caused by heavy rains in Nepal is distressing. We stand with the people and Government of Nepal in this difficult time.''

As per the statement of Kalidas Dhaubaji, the APF spokesperson, ''As many as 37 of the deaths occurred in Ilam district, Koshi province, where landslides triggered by continuous heavy rainfall have wreaked havoc over the past two days.''

PM assures support to Landslide-hit Darjeeling Region

Meanwhile, PM Modi also extended support to the rain and landslide and flood affected Darjeeling region. Expressing deep sorrow and concern over the situation in Darjeeling and adjoining areas, PM Modi reiterated the Government’s commitment to provide all possible assistance. In a post on X, PM Modi, wrote, “Authorities are closely monitoring the situation in Darjeeling and surrounding areas affected by heavy rainfall and landslides. My thoughts are with the bereaved families. Wishing the injured a quick recovery.”
