New Delhi: The Govindpuri police in Delhi filed an FIR Saturday against a PWD executive engineer for allegedly permitting the misuse of a government vehicle by Delhi Chief Minister Atishi for political purposes in violation of the Model Code of Conduct.
A senior official said Sanjay Kumar, an executive engineer, is the “custodian of the vehicle” assigned to the Delhi Government’s Public Works Department . The vehicle was reportedly used during the election campaign in contravention of poll guidelines.
The complaint, while alleging use of the official vehicle to transport election materials and supplies to Atishi’s personal election office, accused Kumar of failing to prevent the misuse of the government vehicle.
The FIR lodged on January 11 by the returning officer of Kalkaji, stated, “A complaint dated 08.01.2025 was received in this office regarding violation of MODEL CODE OF CONDUCT and using Government Vehicle bearing registration No. DLILALI469 of PWD, GNCTD for political purpose… However, as per letter of General Administration Department (GAD), GNCTD, there shall be total and absolute ban on use of official vehicle for campaigning/ electioneering or election-related travel during elections.
Accordingly, the said Government vehicle being used in for political purpose was in violation of Model Code of Conduct and also of directions contained in the above letter of GAD. This invites action against the said official (Sh Sanjay Kumar, Executive Engineer, South East road division 2), it mentioned, further directing the authorities that “an FIR may be registered against Sh.
