Delhi News: In a fiery protest, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Swati Maliwal called out the Delhi government for supplying contaminated water in various parts of the capital, including Sagarpur and Dwarka. During her demonstration, Maliwal brought a bottle of “black” water collected from residents, placing it in front of Chief Minister Atishis residence as a symbolic plea for action. As the water minister, Atishi now faces a stern warning to address the issue within the next 15 days.Black Water in Delhi Homes, Says MaliwalMaliwal described the alarming state of Delhis water supply in graphic detail, claiming that homes were receiving “black water.” She stated, “I went to a house and black water was being supplied there. If within fifteen days she does not fix the water supply of the entire Delhi, I will bring a whole tanker full of such water,” she declared, adding, “She can bathe with this water, drink this water, or purify her sins.” Maliwals strong words underscored her frustration with what she described as the governments repeated promises, with no improvements since 2015.Criticism of inaction amid festivalsMaliwal took the opportunity to criticize Chief Minister Atishi for neglecting water issues during the festive season, adding, “Chhath Puja is coming. Today was Govardhan Puja, yesterday was Diwali, and this is the condition of Delhi. Who can drink this water and live” She also accused Atishi of focusing on “ten press conferences every day” rather than solving issues that directly impact Delhis residents.AAP blames BJP for civic issuesIn response to Maliwals protest, AAP MLA and new Delhi Jal Board (DJB) Vice Chairman Vinay Mishra pointed fingers at the BJP for allegedly hindering the functioning of the civic agency. Mishra asserted that BJP interference over the years had impacted various public services, from healthcare to water supply. “They even paralyzed the DJB, restricting both water supply and sewer cleaning,” Mishra claimed, pledging that with Arvind Kejriwals return, AAP would “address issues at a rapid pace.” As the dispute between AAP and BJP intensifies, Delhi residents continue to await solutions to the capitals water woes.
